Anek Movie Story
Many movies ask the tough question of what it means to be an Indian, a loaded puzzle in an era where Hindutva rhetoric is fueling brutal discrimination across the country. For Northeast Indian boxer Edo, played by newcomer Andrea Cevichusa, his dream of earning a spot in the national team is enough to prove him to belong to a land where people endure racial abuse on a daily basis. For his father Wangnao (Mipham Otsal), a schoolteacher who secretly leads a rebel group against government forces, the assimilated cultural identity is stripped away. In the middle stands an undercover agent, Joshua (Ayushmann Khurrana), who tests his loyalty. In a well-understood performance, Khurrana delivers his lines with a conservatism that recalls Amitabh Bachchan's gentle charisma of the 1970s, even though, in this contemporary era, Angry Young Man no longer exists. Not there; He has been locked in a system that incites bloody unrest while simultaneously punishing those fighting for political autonomy.
